Where else can you reflect on the turbulent state of our country and salsa dance away an afternoon in one day, other than at an asphaleia staff day?
Staff days, held three times a year, always provide a surprise and yesterday was no exception. This year’s summer staff day was unique in more ways than one. Not only did staff get to enjoy an exclusive salsa dance lesson, but for the first time the Uxbridge and Kent teams had their own staff day in London, and the Sussex team remained on the coast.
This time staff reflected on service user feedback, what to do when an incident occurs (helped along by Ben Stiller in Night at the Museum) and took part in the biggest quiz in asphaleia’s history - there were seven individual quizzes with at least 10 questions each! People were split into pairs, with new staff mixed with the old. It was a fantastic opportunity for all staff to get to know the organisation better. The winners will tell you it was worth the effort though, after walking away with top of the range prizes.
As usual, the events provided a brilliant learning opportunity for all staff, as well as the chance to get to know other people in other areas of the organisation which, given the fast pace at which the organisation is growing, doesn’t happen very often.
The next staff day takes place in October - who knows what new skills (and dancing moves) we’ll be learning next?
