World Mental Health Day is TODAY!

Today is World Mental Health Day and here at asphaleia we will be supporting the various campaigns with staff and young people and we would like to encourage you to do the same!

Mental health problems can affect anyone any day of the year, but today is a great day to show support for better mental health and to start looking after your own wellbeing….

The theme for today is workplace wellbeing. During our lives, a large proportion of our time is spent at work. Our experience in the workplace is one of the factors determining our overall wellbeing. Employers and managers who put in place workplace initiatives to promote mental health and to support employees who have mental disorders see gains not only in the health of their employees but also in their productivity at work. A negative working environment, on the other hand, may lead to physical and mental health problems, harmful use of substances or alcohol, absenteeism and lost productivity.

Nearly 80,000 children and young people suffer from severe depression and on average, three children in every classroom in the UK have a diagnosable mental health disorder. We want to put a spotlight on young people’s mental health and get everyone joining in on the conversation.

So join Young Minds on World Mental Health Day by wearing something yellow to work and donating to Young Minds. It could be a tie, t-shirt or even lipstick – if you’re feeling daring. Take a photo of yourself wearing yellow and send it to me so we can upload to Twitter & Instagram and share our #HelloYellow support!

Once you have done this simply Text YMYM00 and £x (replace x with the amount you wish to donate) to 70070. Donations of £1, £2, £3, £4, £5, or £10 can be made The full amount will go to YoungMinds.

Keep an eye out on all of our social media pages to see what we get up to and to find out how you can support our projects.
